Becky experimented until she created a method for distressing furniture that she was satisfied with. She began refinishing and rebuilding furniture, either as a restored piece, or one given a new purpose. She will either refinish a piece or give it her distinctive distressed look. At times she may combine both methods into a piece. The finished products have been a popular choice for many.
Next came stained glass work. She began teaching herself to do stained glass designs with the help of books, and a couple of friends who were stained glass artists. Becky does pieces composed of soldered glass designs, as well as glass on glass mosaics done with stained glass sometimes combined with other mediums to make unique impressionistic designs. She is currently adding use of lead into her stained glass creations. Many of these have been done inside antique windows distressed with her signature method.
The latest challenge Becky has undertaken is making pottery. Many of the pieces are hand-built but Becky is also works with wheel-thrown and altered forms. As some of these pieces begin to show up in Becky’s selling space, it is clear that she is working hard to find her own voice in the world of clay creations and unusual glaze combinations.
The space referenced is a result of making more things than could be used in her home or for her clients. It is a delightfully decorated retail space located within the Ingram’s Market. Many of her creations are displayed there for purchase. Custom items may also be ordered by using the contact form located on this site.
The journey will continue as the quest for new ideas and ways to do things is a never ending pursuit of this creator.
